What is Winnipeg in motion?

Winnipeg in motion is a community-wide collaboration that supports Winnipeggers to be physically active for health benefits.

The vision for Winnipeg in motion is a supportive community where residents include physical activity in their daily lives for health, well-being, and enjoyment. Engaging citizens, groups, and organizations is essential to the creation of a healthy, active, and supportive community. Communities that work together will be able to identify opportunities and barriers to being physically active. They can plan, develop, coordinate and deliver services that support their residents to include physical activity in their daily lives.

Winnipeg in motion recognizes the importance of communities working with education, business, government, recreation, health, and other sectors to address difficulties citizens may encounter with participating in physical activity. Barriers that may exist include lack of time, energy, excessive cost, and issues related to poverty.

The Winnipeg in motion coordinating partners, the University of Manitoba, the City of Winnipeg, the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority in collaboration with Manitoba in motion are committed to sharing their knowledge and expertise to support communities, schools, and workplaces in developing physical activity promotion strategies that promote healthy living.
