Participants of All Abilities
The challenge and its point system have been designed to ensure all participants, regardless of their fitness level or ability can succeed.
- Pedometers: The challenge is set up to use a pedometer, which measures steps. An activity conversion tool is provided to convert ‘other’ activities, such as swimming, yoga or gardening, that can’t be measured with a pedometer into steps or for those without a pedometer.
- Talking Pedometers: People that may have difficulty using traditional pedometers may want to look into a talking pedometer.
- Odometers: People that use a wheelchair can participate in the challenge by using an odometer rather than a pedometer. Odometers can be purchased at local bicycle shops and installed on a wheelchair to measure the distance traveled throughout the day. The distance can then be converted into steps using the Odometer conversion tool and entered into the online tracker as steps.
