Challenge Roles
Challenge Coordinator
- Choose a Challenge start date & length (5 – 12 weeks)
- Register workplace challenge online at www.walkforwellnesschallenge.ca.
- As Challenge Coordinator, you will not automatically be registered as a Team Captain or Participant in the Challenge – so, if you plan to take part in the Challenge you will need to ensure that you add yourself to a team.
- Promote the Challenge within your workplace (posters, emails, lunch & learn introductory session, etc.).
- Recruit participants to be Team Captains, and encourage Team Captains to recruit participants for their team.
- Add teams to the Challenge, by “Adding a Team” to your Challenge. Team Captains will be sent an automated email that will invite them to sign-up for the Challenge and then they can add their participants.
- Access Challenge guides from website and ensure Team Captains and Participants have access to the guides.
- Decide on a pedometer purchasing plan.
- Forward emails, tips, and materials to Team Captains.
- You may need to enter daily totals for your Team Captains & Participants if they don’t have access to a computer or the internet.
- Most importantly…. keep your teams motivated & informed!
Team Captain
- Form a team
- Once you receive your automated email from the Walk for Wellness Challenge site, log in & register as a TEAM CAPTAIN (will automatically register you as a participant as well) in your workplace challenge.
- Add Participants to your team, by “Add a Participant to this Team”.
- Participants that have access to email will receive an automated email that will invite them to sign-up for the Challenge and then they can begin entering in their daily activity and healthy eating data once the challenge has begun.
- You will need to enter data for your team members that don’t have an email address or access to internet.
- Access the Challenge guide from the website and ensure your team members have a copy or access to the online tracker.
- Make sure each of your team members have a pedometer and access to the Challenge guides.
- Forward e-mails, tips, and materials to your team members.
- Most importantly…encourage your teammates to keep walking & eating healthy!
Participant
- Join a team.
- Once you receive your automated email from the Walk for Wellness Challenge site, log in & register as a PARTICIPANT in your workplace challenge.
- Get a pedometer.
- Access Participant Guide and other Challenge resources & tips from Challenge website www.walkforwellnesschallenge.ca.
- Track your daily steps (pedometer) and other activity (Activity Converter).
- Work towards 10,000 (or more) steps of activity each day.
- Track your daily intake of vegetables and fruit.
- Work towards eating your Daily 7.
- Most importantly... encourage your teammates to keep walking & eating healthy!
